Road-Show Summary, March-June 2007
The Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) and Counter-Terrorism Solutions (CTS) Ltd., the consulting and training arm of ICT, conducted an advanced workshop "Road Show" in the United States titled "Combating International Terrorism: Current and future trends and domestic implications" from March 22-29, 2007. The road show was sponsored by the Israeli Embassy and Consulates in the U.S.
Our experts traveled to Boston, New York and Washington, D.C. in an effort to improve the understanding of global terrorism and its ramifications, and to achieve international cooperation in the fight against this growing and fundamental threat.
The workshops were designed for security agencies, such as the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, law enforcement agencies, first responders, decision makers, international and local business corporations, heads of security departments, and more. The workshops included lectures from ICT's top experts and their American counterparts on topics of vital importance to counter-terrorism and homeland security concerns in the U.S. and internationally.
Following the advanced research workshop, ICT’s experts were available for additional individual meetings with representatives of government agencies, academic institutions, think tanks, corporate executive security, data security, internet and communication security personnel, and the security related industry interested in the services of CTS.
Another significant event that took place during the March road show in New York was a special financial panel sponsored by the Israeli Consulate General. This panel was designed for the business community in New York, featuring ICT's experts in the field; Dr. Eitan Azani and Col. (res.) Yoni Fighel were joined by Prof. Rafi Melnick, Dean of the Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy at the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya, and a former senior analyst at the Bank of Israel.
The second round of our road-show took place in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco, sponsored by the local Israeli Consulates. In June, our experts visited New Orleans for a one day workshop sponsored by Israeli Consulate in Huston, Sheriff Marlin Gusman, the City of New Orleans and Mike Magner of the U.S. Dept. of Justice.
We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to our gracious hosts and friends in the U.S. whose invaluable cooperation and assistance was essential in making the road show a success, including:
* Dr. Detlof von Winterfeldt, Director, CREATE; Risk & Dr. Richard John, CREATE, Researcher and Professor of Psychology, University of Southern California
* Juan Zarate, Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for Combating Terrorism
* Mike Sena, Deputy Director; Regional Terrorism Threat Assessment Center, Northern California
* Richard E. Friedman, President and Chair, National Strategy Forum
* Senior Special Agent in Charge VanAttenhoven, California Dept. Law Enforcement of the Justice Division
The road-shows were a big success, with academic cooperation, business connections and professional relationships established. In addition, the road show received an extraordinary amount of media coverage where our experts were interviewed by different television stations, newspapers and magazines from across the U.S.
