Major Gen. (ret.) Dan Ronen

 

Major Gen. (ret.) Dan Ronen is Research Associate at ICT (International Institute for Counter-Terrorism). He has had a long and prestigious career in the Israeli Police. He has lately retired from civil service and is CEO of a private company dealing with security issues.

2007 – Prime Minister's Office – Ministry for the Development of the Negev and the Galilee: Head of the "Corridor for Peace" project – regional economic development vis-à-vis Jordan and the Palestinian Authority.
2004-2007: Commander of the Police Northern Region (the largest of the police regions) responsible for approx. 5,000 policemen on regional duties and some 20,000 volunteers. He commanded the overall forces and systems during the second Lebanon War, in missions involving defense of the residents in the northern home front.
2001-2003: Head of the Police Operations Division, Coordinator of activities of all police units in the operational field and with the General Security Service and IDF units in the battle against terrorism. Initiation, planning and implementation of drills and war games.
2001-2003 – Ministry of Public Security: Head of the Operational Unit at the Ministry of Public Security overseeing and directing professional, doctrinal discussions and coordinating between the Ministry of Public Security and the other ministries, in the field of public security.
2000-2001: Deputy Commander of the Central Region, responsible among others for the planning, coordination and establishment of the technological control center.
1992-1993: Home Front Command: Representative of the Israel Police, with the rank of Commander. Member and partner in the establishment of the Home Front organization; Establishment of the coordination mechanism between the IDF, the Israel Police and other civil organizations, both day-to-day and in an emergency; Partner in the formation of the doctrine regarding the defense of the Home Front.

Education: M.A. in business administration, Derby University, England; M.A. in political science, Haifa University; B.A. in social sciences, criminology, Bar Ilan University.
