The one-week intensive Terrorism and Medicine Program is only offered in the summer. The program is designed for medical practitioners, academics, and emergency response personnel, as well as security and disaster management professionals and policy makers, who want to gain a broader understanding of the threats of terrorism, methods of response, and emergency preparedness. The program will provide a comprehensive overview of the principles of terror medicine and mass casualty and disaster management, building on the extensive experience gained by Israel in dealing with victims of terror attacks and mass casualty events (MCE). Participants will acquire a holistic view of the essential role played by emergency preparedness in minimizing terror casualties.
The week-long program will take place in Jerusalem at Hadassah University Hospital-Ein Kerem, site of Israel’s first Level One trauma center. Hadassah has handled 40% of the more than 8,500 people victimized by terror since September 2000. In light of this experience, the hospital is at the cutting edge of emergency medicine. The workshop at Hadassah hospital will be led by the world’s leading experts in the field.
