Assistant Commissioner Denis J. Monette currently serves as the Chairman of the STARCOM (Stop Terrorism Aggressive Response Coordinated Operational Managment)Task Force. STARCOM is a multi-agency Homeland Security and Counter-Terrorism Task Force. The STARCOM Task Force is comprised of local, state, federal and private security agencies in the United States. STARCOM has been deemed a "best practice" by the United States Department of Homeland Security. Denis J. Monette served over three decades in law enforcement and also held the positions of Police Officer, Patrol Sergeant and Detective Sergeant. He served the majority of his tenure in the Narcotics Bureau and Detective Squad. Denis J. Monette worked undercover extensively in the famous "Henry Hill Case" of which the movie "Goodfellas" was made. Denis J. Monette was a highly decorated officer and has received numerous national and inter-national awards. Former Assistant Commissioner Monette has made over four hundred felony arrests in his career.
He received a certificate from Secretary Tom Ridge, as a founding member of the United States Department of Homeland Security and received the 9-11 Service Award for Exceptional Meritorious Service at the 9-11 World Trade Center Terrorist Attack. Secretary Ridge was the former governor of Pennsylvania and the first secretary of Homeland Security.
Former Assistant Commissioner Monette has an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Nassau Community College, a Bachelors Degree in Behavorial Science from the NY Institute of Technology and a Master's Degree from Long Island University/C.W. Post College. He also is a United States Coast Guard licensed Master and holds a United States Coast Guard Captains License. He is a an Adjunct Professor at Long Island University/C.W. Post College.
Assistant Commissioner Monette is considered an expert on both Aviation and Maritime Security has been interviewed extensively by New York and Inter-National television and print media outlets.
Assistant Commissioner Monette has been a speaker at the World Summit on Counter-Terrorism for the past 8 years. He also serves as a Counter-Terrorism Consultant.
Assistant Commissioner Monette was named a RESEARCH FELLOW at ICT in 2011 and is the only NON-ISRAELI Citizen to attain that honor.

Commissioner Monette serves as a representative of Honorable Congressman Peter T. King (R-NY). Congressman King serves as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives INTELLIGENCE COMMITEE and Chairs the sub-committee on Counter-Terrorism.
