Maj. Gen. Herzi Halevi is a major general in the Israel Defense Forces and the current chief of the Israeli Military Intelligence Directorate. He earned his BA in Philosophy and Business Administration at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. After, he obtained his M.A. in National Resources Management at the National Defense University, Washington D.C. He also completed the Division Commanders' Course and the Brigade Commanders' Course. He has had a long and successful career in the Israeli Defense Forces. Before serving as Chief of Defense Intelligence, he was Commander of the IDF Command and Staff College, Commander of the IDF Galilee Division, Commander of the IDF Operational Division, Commander of the IDF Paratroopers Brigade, Commander of the IDF Menashe Regional Brigade/Judea and Samaria Division (deployed in the Jenin/northern Samaria area), Commander of the IDF Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Head of the IDF Operational Planning Branch, Served in various positions in the CTU, Served in various combat and command positions in the Paratroopers Brigade. He was born in 1967 in Jerusalem
and is married with four children.
