Director, National Counter Terrorism Centre and Special Envoy CVE, Kenya
Ambassador Martin Kimani, PhD is the Director of Kenya’s National Counter Terrorism Centre and Special Envoy CVE. Prior to this role, he was Permanent Representative and Head of Mission to the United Nations at Nairobi and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).
Ambassador Kimani holds an MA and PhD in War Studies from King’s College of the University of London.
The session was part of the ICT's 16th World Summit on Counter-Terrorism: "Unpuzzling Terrorism". Ambassador Kimani spoke about terrorism in Kenya, providing explanations and analyses regarding the phenomenon. Kimani also discussed Kenya's counter-terrorism efforts, including the elimination of Al-Shabaab, which is considered the top priority of the country's national security agenda.
